This review needs updating and a bit of research into who is using it, how and why. Personally I make money by laying the pros bets at lower prices than I can get at the exchanges and bookies or by laying the same price. Why? Because if a horse gets 5th and I can cover the bet at a bookies that pays 5th, I get paid out and I don’t have to pay the pros who can only bet up to 4th. There’s also Guaranteed Odds offers and stakes returned on non runners that came under orders to consider. I could talk for hours on the uses of this site having been a punter since the site started. I wouldn’t recommend what I am doing to the novice or even the matched bettor as the time allowed is now down to 5 mins and only 3 mins if you opt to take more of the same bet. You have to be fast and efficient with your time. Oddschecker helps and Betfair is your biggest friend but I have still had most of my bookie accounts limited, granted I had already lost quite a few through matched betting.

Why would a professional punter ask strangers to lay him a price he can get with a bookie? and in the example shown why would he ask for 13 when he can get 24 on an exchange?

In reply to Richard Whitehouse. I placed a LAY bet (betting against) with Bet Connect £2 E/W @ odds 13 with a liability £24. If I had placed the same lay bet on Betfair, the liability is much higher at £48. The lower the lay odds you secure the better. My example is nothing to do with backing.

Odd to say you lower your odds by placing a bet for the pro. Maths not your thing?

If they take up USA horse racing then the site will really grow.Too restricted at the moment and the Uk horse racing is already very liquid so no real need to use betconnect for that.If Betconnect takes up USA American Horse racing that is can really be the next Betfair and start to grow.

I disagree with your comment about BetConnect being suitable for matches betting. I’ve been using it to supplement my matches betting for the last 3 months and it’s worked very well. It doesn’t replace having an exchange as you can’t choose which bets you’ll receive but you’ll receive plenty of bets that tie in with a bookie offer and can often arb the bet on an exchange.
